Forgot to say last time, on the Miele there is a way to see how many operating hours it has done, you start with the machine off and door shut. Turn on the machine while holding start, it’ll flash green a couple times and then go solid green, while it’s solid green let go and press again 3 times and on the 3rd time keep hold of it and it’ll click into a diagnostic menu, scroll through the dial till you see operating hours, least you’ll know how much it’s been used then

Update: so I had Indesit engineer come to check it. Apparently it’s ok for washing machines to smoke! All you need to do is scrape the visible burnt rubber and clean your washer with indesit branded cleaner! You know, the expensive one. So yay! We’re good! Let’s burn the house down (read that with very sarcastic tone)
